When the group wishes to address a particular issue or theme, it is essential that all can participate. If one of the group members is to facilitate the session, the group can miss out on valuable participation and knowledge. It may even be difficult for the facilitator to be completely neutral and objective. An external facilitator can supervise and be responsible for guiding the process. All group members can then focus the matter at hand.
As your facilitator, I can be completely objective and concentrate on catching what is said and what is of importance. I can keep the group on track, challenge and encourage discussion. This way, the group can more efficiently plan action to reach their common goal.
